To what extent is the Universe conceivable?

“Human ‘conception’ of the Universe works like the eyes conceiving of the body. We may be a component of the Universe – a critical one at that – and yet our function is to look outward (like the eyes). We are not designed to understand that which is happening behind the eyes, but to see and sense and bring form and color to the Universal body. We do not understand the inner workings of the Universe and thus cannot fully conceive of it. We can only conceive of our domain, but that should be enough. We must perform our function impeccably.”

If it was revealed that your whole life was a “Truman Show”, how much have you questioned the reality to which you’ve been presented? “

“As did Truman Burbank in the movie, I believe mankind is motivated to seek truth on an instinctual level. Sure, we are sheeps to some extent, but we also ask questions – and are the only species to do so. We have intuition – a quality that activates subconsciously, unpredictably, and powerfully. Whether we ‘want’ to escape a ‘Truman Show’ or not, the clues will present themselves and we will follow our innate curiosity towards truth.”

To what extent is happiness available to everyone?

“Given the deeply subjective nature of ‘happiness’, it should technically be independent of conditions and other factors. According to the Buddha’s teachings, our ‘happiness’ is a result of clear understanding – of experiencing reality as it actually is. That includes recognizing impermanence as well as the non-existence of an independent ‘self’. These recognizitions lead to non-grasping and fulfillment. Those who have realized these truths are happy, whether they are financially wealthy or not.”
