There is a dilemma with the search for extraterrestrial life. If we don’t find it, we will just have to live with the mystery of whether we are alone. If we do find other life out there, it shows that none has evolved enough to colonize the galaxy. If there is other life out there, it either hasn’t surpassed modern human technology or has been blocked by something farther along the path of evolution. Thus, finding aliens shows that we have a LONG way to go in understanding the Universe.
